ChatGPT AI Ads Agent docs / Feature guides
Your product feed and markets
In ChatGPT, your product is the ad. The product feed is how OpenAI gets your products: the app builds it from your Shopify catalog and sends it to OpenAI every day, with a feed of its own for each market. You don't write or upload anything. The Feed page shows what OpenAI accepted, what it turned down and why.
What the feed sends
One row for every variant of every product on your Online Store:
- Title: your Shopify title (or your ad title, if you approved one), plus the variant name. Up to 150 characters.
- Description: your product description as plain text.
- Product link: the product page on your store's domain, opening the right variant.
- Photo: the product's main image.
- Price in the market's currency.
- Stock status: in stock or sold out.
- Brand: the product's vendor, or your store name if it has none.
- Barcode (GTIN), when the variant has one.
- Variant options (size, colour and so on), so OpenAI knows the variants belong to one product.
- Your store's name and web address as the seller.
Feed rules can change some of this before it's sent. See feed rules.
When it's sent
The feed is rebuilt and sent once a day, so prices, stock and new products stay fresh. It's also sent after you change a feed rule or a market, and whenever you click Send feed now on the Feed page. Your Shopify products never change.
If OpenAI hasn't switched on feed uploads for your ad account yet, the Feed page says Your feed is added by hand. Ads Manager then reads the feed from a link the app gives you, and the app keeps that link up to date every day.
Feed status
Open Feed. The Overview tab shows:
- How many of your products can show in ChatGPT ads, and the counts behind it: Products in ads, Stopped by rules, Turned off by you and Can't be sent.
- What OpenAI says: OpenAI's own report on the last file: live with how many rows accepted, still being checked, or not accepted. If rows were turned down, it lists which field (price, image, title, barcode and so on) and how many rows.
- Sent lately: every feed built and sent, for each market, with how many rows went and how many were stopped or changed by rules.
If OpenAI didn't accept the last feed, click Send feed now to send it again, or fix the products it names.
Products that can't be sent
OpenAI only takes products that have a photo, a price above zero and a page on your Online Store. Others are left out of the feed and counted under Can't be sent. On Products, the Needs a fix tab lists them with the reason:
- No photo: add a photo to the product in Shopify.
- No price: set a price above zero in Shopify.
- Not on Online Store: in Shopify, make it active and available on the Online Store.
Fix them in Shopify and they go out with the next send.
Make your ads stronger lists products that can show but are less likely to: sold out, short titles, thin descriptions, no brand, no Shopify category, no barcode. Check before advertising flags products that may be limited under ChatGPT's ad policies (for example alcohol, tobacco, weapons or health claims). A match isn't a rejection, just worth a look.
Fix products with AI
For missing descriptions, search listings, image descriptions and Shopify categories, click Fix with AI on Products, or open a product and fill it in from there. AI drafts only from what your product data already says. Nothing changes in your store until you review the draft and apply it.
Facts only you have, like barcodes and photos, you add in Shopify (Edit in Shopify).
Free includes 5 AI fixes a month; Starter 100; Growth and Pro unlimited (fair use). These share an allowance with AI ad titles.
Turn a product's ads off
On Products, switch off Show in ChatGPT ads for any product. It stays in the feed, marked not for ads, and leaves ChatGPT on the next sync. Your choice always wins over any feed rule and over the agent.
On a product's page you can also Lock it: the agent never changes a locked product.
Markets
OpenAI fixes a feed's countries when the feed is made, so each Shopify market gets its own feed. Each market's feed has:
- Its own prices: Shopify's price for that market's country.
- Its own currency.
- Its own language: your Shopify translations.
Open Feed → Markets. The first time, the app asks to read your Shopify markets and translations: click Allow in Shopify. Without that, your store has just its main market.
Where you already sell lists countries you got orders from in the last 90 days that don't have a ChatGPT feed yet. Click Start feed on a market to create its feed at OpenAI. No money is spent until you start a campaign there; use New campaign on the market's row. Stop feed removes it, and ChatGPT stops showing those products there.
Which plans
| Plan | Products in the feed | Markets with a feed |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 100 | 1 |
| Starter | 1,000 | 2 |
| Growth | 10,000 | 5 |
| Pro | Unlimited | Unlimited |
The main market counts as one. Products past your plan's limit wait until you upgrade. See plans and limits or the pricing page.
The agent and your feed
Under Who looks after the feed on the Feed page, choose:
- Manual: you look after the feed. The agent doesn't suggest feed changes.
- Agent suggests, you decide: the agent finds what to fix and waits for your OK.
- Agent does it for you: it fixes the feed on its own and tells you what it did.
Feed changes never spend money, and every one can be undone. The agent's feed skills:
- Skip sold-out products: adds a feed rule so sold-out products stop getting ads, and come back on their own when they're in stock.
- Protect your margin: when products can't pay for their clicks, adds a price rule (Starter and up).
- Find new markets: when a country in a Shopify market without a ChatGPT feed sends you enough orders, starts that market's feed (Starter and up).
- Fix a failed feed: sends the feed again when OpenAI didn't accept the last one.
