What is AEO?

AEO stands for answer engine optimization: making your store easy for AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity to find, understand and recommend when a shopper asks them what to buy. Think of it as SEO for AI answers. You may also see it called GEO (generative engine optimization) or AI SEO.

Which AI assistants does the app check?

ChatGPT on every plan. Growth adds Gemini and Perplexity. Pro adds Claude and Grok, for five in total. Each is asked through its own provider's API with live web search on.

Are the results the same as what a shopper sees?

Close, but not always identical. The app asks each assistant with web search on, as a shopper in your country would. AI answers vary from one run to the next, even for the same shopper, so watch the trend over several checks rather than any single answer.

Can you guarantee AI will recommend my store?

No. Nobody controls what AI assistants say. The app shows where you stand and why others are picked, and helps you fix what's in your control: your product data, your pages, whether AI can reach your store, and where you get mentioned.

How long until I see a change?

A fix on your own store has to be found by search engines first, which can take a week or two. Use Re-check now on a question to see if a fix worked without waiting for the next full scan. Changes the app makes are sent to Bing right away through instant indexing, which helps ChatGPT search find them sooner.

Will the app change my store without asking?

No. The app installs read-only. Product fixes, pages and blog posts are drafts: you review each one, and nothing changes until you apply or approve it. Shopify asks you for write permission the first time you apply a change.

Does the app need a theme change or code?

No. AI sales tracking is a Shopify web pixel the app adds on install. Showing product FAQs on your store uses theme app extensions you turn on with one click in the theme editor. See Make your products AI-ready.

Do I need llms.txt?

It's optional. Few AI assistants read it today. What matters more is that the AI crawlers that answer shoppers are allowed in your robots.txt and your store isn't password-protected. The AI access check shows both.

Does it work in other languages and countries?

Buyer questions are asked in your store's language, as a shopper from the country you choose in setup. On Pro you can track up to 5 more countries, each in its own language. See Track other countries.

Is my store's data used to train AI?

No. Your store data isn't used to train or fine-tune any AI model. The questions sent to AI assistants contain no shopper personal data. See the privacy policy.

Is it the same app as the Vosaire AI Chatbot?

No. They're two separate Vosaire apps with separate plans. The AI Chatbot & Sales app answers shoppers on your store; AI Visibility & AEO gets your store recommended by AI assistants elsewhere.
