ChatGPT AI Ads Agent docs / Uninstalling & your data

What the app stores, and what happens when you uninstall

When you uninstall, the app's access to your store is deleted at once, and it stops reading your store and sending events. 48 hours later, Shopify asks the app to delete your store's data, and everything it holds is deleted, including your encrypted OpenAI keys. Your campaigns, ads and feed are in your own OpenAI ad account, so they stay there.

What the app keeps

While it's installed, the app keeps what its features need:

  • Your store: name, domains, owner email, country, currency and language, and your plan
  • Your ChatGPT Ads connection: your Advertiser API key and Conversions API key, stored encrypted and never shown in the browser or in logs; your Pixel ID, ad account currency and time zone, budget, goal and margin
  • Your ads: campaigns, ads, bids, budgets and their results, read from your ad account
  • Your catalog: products, variants, prices, images, barcodes, collections, stock and unit cost, kept in sync
  • Orders (the last 60 days, or your full history if you allow it), with the customer's personal data removed before anything is stored: no names, emails, phone numbers, addresses or IP addresses
  • Visits from ChatGPT ads and AI assistants, from the app's web pixel, only for shoppers who allow analytics
  • Your settings and results: feed rules, markets, AI ad titles and product drafts, the agent's suggestions and changes, and messages you send the agent

The full list, every service that handles data, and where it's stored are in the privacy policy.

What the app sends to OpenAI

Everything goes to your own ad account:

  • Your product feed: each product's title, description, link, brand, photo, price, stock and barcode, per market. No customer data.
  • Campaigns and ads you create or approve, with their targeting, bids and budgets.
  • Conversion events: orders, add-to-carts and checkouts, so OpenAI can measure which ads led to sales. To match an order to an ad click, it may include the customer's email, phone and name hashed with SHA-256, their country and IP address. These are passed on and not stored. Test, POS and draft orders are never sent.
  • Customer audiences (Pro, only if you turn one on): customers' emails, hashed before they leave the app's server.

OpenAI handles this data under your agreement with OpenAI and its own terms. Vosaire is not affiliated with OpenAI.

Before you uninstall: your ads

Uninstalling the app doesn't pause your ads. Campaigns that are running keep running and spending in your OpenAI ad account, without the app's budget limits, loss stop or agent. If you want them to stop, pause them first, in the app or in ChatGPT Ads Manager.

How to uninstall

In Shopify, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels, find Vosaire: ChatGPT AI Ads Agent, and click Uninstall. Your plan ends with it.

What happens next

WhenWhat happens
Right awayThe app's access tokens are deleted. It stops reading your store and stops sending your feed and events to OpenAI. Your plan goes back to Free.
48 hours laterShopify sends the data deletion request. The app deletes everything it holds about your store, including your encrypted Advertiser API and Conversions API keys, catalog, orders, settings, drafts and files.
Up to 4 months (one yearly copy up to 2 years)Encrypted backups expire on a fixed schedule. Deleted data disappears from backups as they expire.

If you reinstall within the 48 hours, nothing is deleted and you pick up where you left off.

What stays in your OpenAI ad account

Your ad account is yours, so these stay after you uninstall:

  • Your campaigns, ad groups and ads
  • The product feed the app created. It's no longer updated, so its prices and stock go out of date
  • Your pixel, conversion events and conversion keys
  • Any customer audiences the app uploaded

You can delete or pause any of them in ChatGPT Ads Manager. To stop the app's access completely before you uninstall, you can also delete the "Vosaire" API key under Settings → General → API Keys in Ads Manager.

Removing the pixel from your theme

OpenAI's pixel on your store comes from the app's ChatGPT Ads pixel app embed. To turn it off:

  1. In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize.
  2. Open App embeds.
  3. Switch off ChatGPT Ads pixel and click Save.

App embeds come from the app, so the pixel also stops loading once the app is uninstalled.

Customer privacy requests

Shopify sends the app customer data and deletion requests, and the app handles them automatically. When a customer asks for their data, the app collects what it holds about them into an export you download from Settings → Privacy and send to the customer. When a customer asks to be deleted, their personal data is removed; sales totals stay without it.
