How Much Does a Shopify Chatbot Really Cost in 2026?

Every Shopify chatbot app posts a price on its App Store listing. What most merchants don't find out until after installing is that the sticker price and the actual monthly bill are often two different numbers — because a lot of these apps don't charge a flat rate at all. They charge per conversation, per ticket, or per "AI reply," with overage fees once you cross the included amount.

We pulled the plan structure directly from 15 Shopify chatbot and AI agent apps' own App Store listings (verified 2026-08-08 — see our full comparison page for the live, per-app breakdown) to show what's actually going on with pricing in this category.

The two pricing models

Almost every app in this space falls into one of two buckets:

Flat-rate, no overage. You pick a plan, you get a fixed monthly reply/conversation allowance, and that's the bill — full stop. Vosaire works this way, and so do a couple of others we checked (Moose, Chatway).

Metered, with overage fees. You pick a plan with an included allowance, and once you cross it mid-month, you start paying per additional unit — sometimes per conversation, sometimes per ticket, sometimes per "AI action." This is the more common model:

AppEntry paid planIncluded volumeWhat happens after
Chatty$19.99/mo100 conversations+$0.40 per extra conversation
Tidio (Lyro AI)$39/mo200 conversationsScales to a higher tier
Gorgias$10/mo50 tickets+$0.40 per ticket overage
Willdesk$16.90/mo100 conversations+$12–20 per 100 conversations
Zipchat$49/mo500 AI repliesUpgrade required beyond tier
Wizybot$69.99/mo1,250 AI replies+$0.07 per message overage
Chatbase$40/mo500 message creditsUpgrade required beyond tier
Ochatbot$9/mo2,000 visitors+$9–18 per 1,000 visitors
Mearch$81/mo1,000 AI repliesUpgrade required beyond tier

Prices and terms are exactly as posted on each app's own Shopify App Store listing as of 2026-08-08 — apps change pricing without much notice, so re-check the current listing before budgeting against these numbers.

Why this catches merchants off guard

None of this is hidden, exactly — it's usually disclosed somewhere on the pricing page. But "conversation," "ticket," "AI action," and "message credit" all mean different things depending on the app, and overage rates are rarely front and center next to the headline price. A store running a promotion, launching a new product, or just having a normal busy week can blow through an included allowance without anyone noticing until the next invoice is larger than expected.

The unit itself matters too. A "conversation" might be one message or twenty. A "ticket" in Gorgias's model can span a whole back-and-forth thread. None of these map cleanly onto each other, which is exactly why direct price comparisons across this category are harder than they look — see our Gorgias, Tidio, and Chatty comparison pages for unit-by-unit breakdowns against Vosaire specifically.

What a flat-rate plan actually gets you

The appeal of a flat-rate model isn't just "no surprises" — it's that a busy month is a good problem to have, not a billing event. Vosaire meters everything in one consistent unit (an AI reply, regardless of channel — storefront widget, WhatsApp, Telegram, or Gmail), gives every paid tier a real, generous allowance, and never charges a per-reply overage fee. If you get close to your limit, you get notified so you can upgrade on your own terms, not billed automatically for going over.

Vosaire also has a genuinely free plan — $0/month, no credit card required, 100 AI replies/month — which is different from most "free" tiers in this category that cap out at a lifetime total or require a card on file before the trial even starts. See the full pricing breakdown for exact limits across every tier.

The honest takeaway

There's no universally "cheapest" app here — it depends entirely on your store's conversation volume and how forgiving you need your pricing to be during a busy month. If you're comparing apps, ask two questions beyond the sticker price: what exactly is metered, and what happens when you go over. Those two answers matter more than the number at the top of the pricing page.
